Today, computers are everywhere. Technology is now embedded in almost everything. So much so almost every job now has an IT component. And whether we like it or not, computer's sometimes fail, break down and need maintenance. This course will enable you to achieve a degree of self-sufficiency as an advanced IT user in your workplace. Your employer will recognise your skills as highly useful as you will not only be able to problem solve and maintain your own computer, but also provide extra support to those around you.
Many interesting topics are explored, including some of the following:
How to safe guard your computer using spyware and anti-virus software.
How to defragment hard drives and resolve bad sectors on hard drives.
How to perform simple diagnostic tests.
How to upgrade and install new hardware, such as sound cards, modems, etc.
How to test new hardware components.
How to determine which new technology will benefit your workplace.
How to do basic troubleshooting to diagnose hardware faults.
How to use the internet and online forums to assist with trouble shooting and problem solving.
How to optimise your operating system and implement basic security controls.

COST: $3500 - Government funding is available for eligible participants.
Eligible participants only pay a student contribution fee of $350.
The balance of tuition fees is funded through the Productivity Places Program in a partnership between the Commonwealth Government and the ACT Government.

To eligible to enrol in a funded training position under the Productivity Places Program, participants must:
- be either an Australian citizen or permanent Australian resident
- be aged over 17 years of age
- have not received Government funding to complete the same or a lower level qualification
- not be enrolled in secondary school or other tertiary education and training, and
- be ACT residents and/or work in the ACT
Eligible participants must also fall into one of the following two categories:
JOB SEEKER - this refers to someone not participating in any work whatsoever.
EXISTING WORKER - this refers to someone who in the previous week worked for one hour or more.
